    Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This time-saving technology boosts the efficiency of the engine’s filter system, doubling the time between air filter cleanings. Air drawn into the engine is first separated via centrifugal force, ejecting the heavier dirt particles before being routed to the air filter. This pre-separation means less dirt to be captured by the air filter, resulting in less frequent cleaning and maintenance.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) additional chain braking feature, STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chainsaws.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Clutch issues I have used multiple Stihl saws and have always loved them. I bought a Farm Boss about a year ago, and it worked great for about 10 months, then it started having clutch issues. It would not idle, then it started killing every time I hit the brake. I took it apart and noticed one of the retainer clips had come loose in the clutch and was getting jammed. I took it into the dealership where I bought it, and 4 weeks later am still waiting for my saw back. Love the brand, but hasn't been the best experience.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good machine; temperamental starting Positive: once you get it running, it's a powerful and smooth beast. Negative: it's often hard to start. Beware: our dealer put gas in it and ran it before delivery; I suppose to make sure it ran okay. Several months later, I pulled it out for its first use. I pulled the starter til I was exhausted. Took it back to the dealer, who asked me if I had run the original gas out before I put it away. No...nobody told me I needed to do that. Well, that's required as stated in the manual and any problem resulting from that is not warranted. So they charged me for cleaning it. Thankfully that's all it needed. But the dealer should have advised me at purchase time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No vibration, cuts like a hot knife through butter. I have been cutting wood since the mid 70 s. I still have and use my first D 15. I believe it was built to last forever and so far it is proving me right! I just bought a Farm Boss for some heavy cutting on the farm. (Storm Damage) Made a tough job a peace of cake. Thank You Stihl.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!! I can't express enough my complete disappointment and lack of satisfaction with the Stihl Farm Boss chain saw I recently purchased...:( I was in the market for a new saw and had every intention of going to one of the big box hardware stores and buying something there. However, a couple of my buddies talked me into going to Ace Hardware and speaking with the Stihl representative...as they claimed the Stihl was a far superior product. I did speak to the local Stihl rep...and purchased a Farm Boss saw and a new Stihl weed eater.I took the saw back to my farm, put in the correct gas mix and bar oil...and proceeded to limb trees for about an hour...when the saw began to lose power...and died. I attempted to restart the saw for several minutes to no avail. I was a little annoyed that it had already failed so soon after my purchase...but, things happen, I thought. I returned the saw to the dealer where I purchased it in Greensboro, NC...and was told that some sort of failure in the motor occurred...and they would call Stihl to ask how to proceed. That was 3 weeks ago! I have still not received a call from the dealer...no replacement saw has been offered...nothing...:/ For all the hype and touting...and extra expense...this entire experience has left me with a very bad opinion of Stihl and their customer support and satisfaction concerns...:/
